From all the lackluster of my new job, the good ol' Ner Yerk heat and humidity, and the
fact that I am basically pooped all the time, I just haven't had it in me to even keep
these updates updated once a month! Sheesh, Sue! You have to do better than that! :)
My new job is about to bore me to tears! I suppose I shouldn't complain too much, but
I spend a good group of my time twiddlin' my thumbs! Now, I suppose some people would
find that the "ideal" job - no responsibility - no pressures - no deadlines - but,
if you can picture a job where there is basically no nothin' - then I think even those
who prefer the lack of stress atmosphere would be climbing the walls from the stress of
having the day d-r-a-g.... Don't get me wrong! The people are great to work with. And
the company is c-o-ol! But I am NOT a thumb twiddler - not by a long shot. So, for me,
that's more stressful than having too much to do. On the bright side, I finally got to
type a letter last week, and only had to wait 6 weeks to do it! Yikes!
Good Old Ner Yerk! You know, people can blame all this odd weather on El Nino all they
want to, but they only do it because they finally gave it a name! This whole thing goes
in cycles - years of too cold - years of too wet - years of too hot - etc. So, this is
year of the return of the "Dog Days" of summer. Hot - Humid - sticky - yucky - blech
stuff! Seen if before, and God willing, will see it again. Can't say as I like it, but
I would still prefer this kind of weather to snow! Few complaints here - mostly because
I'm too busy being pooped from it! :) I think I have vegetableitis! :) I wonder who I
would go see to help cure this? A Vegetableologist? :)
Well, as some of you have probably noticed, Geocities has taken on a new look. First,
they made it mandatory for all Featured pages (of which this is one) to have the ads at
the top of most of the pages. OK, so I redid all the pages to accomodate this. Then
they added this Goecities branding thingy at the bottom of all the pages. OK, so we'll
try to live with that. But now I get this e-mail from Geocities telling me that they
are doing away with the Featured Page program. They're "replacing" it with what they
call "The Best of Geocities". But guess who does the judging? A computer! They tell me
that maybe I'll make it into the new program - but it's up to the pute! Talk about
going too tech! Makes me wonder how this pute will be doing the judging? If it judges
on lots and lots of babbling on - then I'm a shoe-in! :)
Since I have time on my hands at work - and the use of a scanner - I decided to scan
my driver's license. The picture on it was taken on my birthday in 1996 and is the last
known photo I have of myself prior to getting the RAI done in November 1996. Anyway,
I've added this to "my collection of goiter photos" on the Over Time Page. If anyone is
interested in seeing it, the link is here.
To be very blunt - I looked like hell! Too bad the neck shot wasn't full so you could
see just how much it had grown since March 1996. (The photo next to it.) But there is no
mistaking how much worse I looked in just 4 months. Granted that driver's license
photos aren't the best, but this one was very true to life. YUCK!! The woman who was
taking the photos made me retake it three times. She was trying to make me look my
best! And I did! A-YUCK-O!!! She didn't like the way my eyes were protruding! Little did
she - or I for that matter - know what was in the making, huh?
Well, folks, time for me to get myself together for work. Had one of those sleepless
nights last night where I just couldn't get back to sleep for nothing. Been up since
1:30 AM! But at least, for the most part, I can blame it on the heat! :) Hope everyone
has a fun and SAFE 4th of July weekend! Me, I think I'm gonna veg! :) Til next time!
